About this journal

On the drive home from archery class, you ask how it went. You get "good." You ask what the coach said. You get a shrug. Meanwhile, your kid was out there for two hours learning whistles, stance, and how to pull with their back, and most of it is fading before you reach the first stoplight.

My Archery Journal gives all of that a place to stay. It's written for the young archer to fill in on their own, in plain words on short pages, so nobody needs a parent to translate. They read one skill page, shoot carefully, write down what happened, and look back at the end of the week to see what got better.

Instead of chasing high scores, kids earn three badges. The Safety Badge comes first: whistle signals, standing tall, and first arrows on the target. Then the Steady Badge, for a shot that repeats and a first scored round. Then the Archer Badge, for longer distances, staying calm at competitions, and helping newer beginners. Each badge has an honest check before moving on, so they know they've really earned it.

Safety is part of every page. The journal is clear that archery happens at a club with a coach or grown-up watching, never at home.

What's inside

  • 12 shooting logs — what they practiced and how the session felt
  • 12 end trackers — see their arrows land closer together over time
  • 9 score logs — follow their scores without making it all about winning
  • 6 "Notes From My Coach" pages — for the tips that usually get forgotten by dinner
  • 3 "Somebody Watched Me Shoot" pages — a coach, parent, or friend writes what they noticed
  • 15 skill pages across three badges, plus a badge check for each
  • Safety rules, a glossary, goal pages, a "My Archery People" page, and 12 self-reflection pages

It's for kids roughly 7 to 13 in a club, summer program, or weekend class. It's also a great gift from a lolo, lola, or ninong who wants to cheer on a new hobby, especially one tucked into the quiver bag before the next lesson.

Now the drive home has something better to talk about than "did you win?"
