About this journal
Ask a kid how school was and you'll get "okay." Ask what the best part of their day was, and sometimes you get a whole story about recess, a snack, and a truck they saw on the way home.
The Gratitude Journal for Kids: Dinos at Work gives that question a daily home, with dinosaurs driving excavators, cement mixers, and cranes on every page. There are traffic lights, cones, and little "Dig It" and "Dinos at Work" signs too. It's the kind of page a truck-and-dino fan actually wants to open.
Each page takes a couple of minutes. Kids tick the day of the week, write three things they're thankful for, name the person who brought them joy, and share the best part of their day. Then there's a big box to draw or write about it, and four faces to circle how they feel. The prompts are short enough for early writers, and the drawing box means a day still counts when they'd rather doodle.
Do it at bedtime or over breakfast. Over a few weeks, kids start noticing the good parts of their day on their own, and you get a sweet peek into what matters to them. Sometimes that's Lola, sometimes it's a backhoe.
What's inside
- 100 daily gratitude pages — three months of a simple, happy habit
- Three things I'm thankful for — practice putting good moments into words
- This person brought me joy today — helps kids notice the people around them
- Best part of my day — a happy note to end on
- A big draw-or-write box — for kids who'd rather draw than write
- "I feel" faces — an easy way to name feelings and start a bedtime chat
- Construction dinos on every page, plus a "This book belongs to" page
It's for kids about 5 to 10 who love dinosaurs, trucks, or both, and for parents who want a gentle daily habit that's easy to keep. It also makes a nice birthday or Christmas gift from a ninong or tita who wants to give something besides another toy truck. And it's a good start-of-school-year surprise.
A couple of minutes a day, and they start spotting the good stuff themselves.
