About this journal

You've said it a dozen times. "We should really go diving someday." "I've always wanted to learn pottery." "One day I'll finally climb Pulag." Then the year ends, and someday is still sitting there, waiting for a weekend that never gets booked.

The ideas aren't the problem. Nobody writes them down.

My Side Quests is a bucket list journal for the things that aren't your job or your obligations, but that you'd be quietly disappointed to never do. It holds sixty of them, each with its own page. You fill in the top half now, while you still want it: what the quest is, why it matters to you, what it would actually take, and roughly when. The bottom half stays blank until the day it happens. Then you come back and write the date, the place, who came along, and how it really went. (Best done the same evening, while you're still a little sunburnt.)

Nothing here is a deadline, and the list doesn't have to be all plane tickets. A good list mixes big trips with small ones, like finally eating at the place everyone keeps talking about, or taking the barkada to a beach two hours away. The small ones are how you get momentum.

What's inside

  • The Quest Log — one master list of all sixty, with a column to tick when each one is done
  • The Quest Board — idea pages by category, including quests you could do this weekend on money you already have
  • 60 quest pages — plan it on top, tell the story on the bottom once it's lived
  • Looking Back pages — a place to see what you actually did and what surprised you
  • A starter page — your usual excuse, your usual accomplice, and the quest you've put off longest

It's for anyone with a bucket list stuck in their head, couples who keep saying "we should," and friends who want an excuse to plan something. It makes a great birthday gift for the friend turning 30 who swore this would be the year, or a send-off for a coworker starting something new.

Someday isn't a plan. Sixty pages with your name on them is a start.
