About this journal
Everyone at the resort is in the pool. You're on the lounger with the bags, saying you'll "just watch," the way you have at every outing since you were a kid. Nobody else knows you never learned. You'd like to keep it that way, at least until you can actually swim.
The Swimming Journey is a swimming journal for adult beginners, including the ones who are honestly a little scared of the water. It starts in the shallow end, with breathing and floating, and takes its time. No one in these pages is rushing you, and "I stood in the water and breathed" counts as a real session.
After each swim, you write down what you practiced, what your instructor said, and what felt a bit easier than last time. That last part matters more than it sounds. Adult learners tend to remember the scary moments and forget the progress, and a written record shows you the progress in your own handwriting.
The book moves in three stages: getting comfortable and floating, then real freestyle with proper breathing and your first unbroken 100 meters, then endurance, a second stroke, and a safe first open-water swim. It's clear about safety throughout: never swim alone while learning, stick to lifeguarded pools, and only move on when you're truly ready.
What's inside
- 15 swim session logs — keep track of what you practiced and how it went
- 12 drill and distance trackers — watch your laps add up in real numbers
- 6 lesson and coach notes pages — hold on to the tips you'd forget in the changing room
- 3 poolside feedback pages — for a friend or coach to note what they see from the side
- 6 milestone swim logs and 3 personal best pages — proof of how far you've come
- 15 skill pages across three levels, each with something to try in your next session
- A pool etiquette guide, a glossary, goal pages, and 12 self-reflection pages
It's for adults who never learned, swimmers who can manage one length but not two, and anyone who finally booked lessons after years of excuses. It also makes a kind, low-key gift for the barkada member who always "forgot" their swimsuit on beach trips, tucked in with a new pair of goggles.
Nobody has to know where you started. You'll know how far you got.
